Fully automated assembly systems for wheelset bearing housings from HORSTKEMPER increase the efficiency and cycle times of maintenance processes and ensure better ergonomics.
The system, which is equipped with two industrial robots, first conveys the bearing housings that exit a cleaning machine and rotates them by 90 degrees. A camera-based optical position check is performed before employees check the welds and seals of the housing. The automation allows employees to concentrate fully on the inspection without having to handle the housings, which weigh up to 100 kg. The housing and the roller bearing, which has also been optically inspected and preserved, are then placed in a press-fit device, which presses the roller bearing into the bearing housing. The fully assembled wheel set housing is then lifted by an industrial robot and moved to a high-bay warehouse equipped with a stacker crane. There, it is temporarily stored until it is joined with the corresponding wheel set.
Wheelset conveyor lines from HORSTKEMPER support you in automating your maintenance processes. The floor-level transfer systems buffer the wheelset transport, ensuring decoupling and smooth operation of the individual production steps. Our wheelset conveyor lines are robustly designed to meet the requirements of maintenance depots.
